Tips on Mixing Metals in Your Home

Mixing metals in home decor is a great way to add depth and visual interest to your home.

When adding metal finishes, it is important to choose one dominant metal finish that coordinates well with the color scheme of your home, a complementary metal as an accent, and varying finishes and textures to add character and style.

Additionally, arrange the metals throughout the space strategically to ensure each metal's presence demonstrates a sense of purpose and creates a cohesive look.

Key takeaways:

1) Choose one dominant metal finish that coordinates with the color scheme of your home.

2) Choose a complementary metal as an accent.

3)Choose varying finishes and textures to add character and style.

4) Arrange the metals throughout the space strategically.

Painting Interior Doors
Painting Interior Doors

When we moved into our home in 2020, we knew we wanted to update the home and give it a fresh, new look. The first and most daunting task was painting the entire interior of the home! Choosing my wall color was not difficult at all - gray is my favorite color so the obvious choice for my walls was SW Agreeable Gray. And because I love gray so much, I went with a monochromatic paint theme -  SW Agreeable Gray walls and SW Anew Gray cabinets. But what surprised my painter the most was that I wanted to paint my interior doors gray as well. Choosing that color took a minute, but ultimately I chose SW Dovetail. In the end, I was thrilled with the results and so was my painter. So, don't be afraid to paint your interior doors - go bold and choose a beautiful shade of black, gray or blue. Painting your interior doors adds character to your doorways and creates a unique design feature to your home. So, if you need an easy update to your home, paint your doors! You won't regret it.
