Ok, let me start by saying GRAY IS MY FAVORITE COLOR!!
The first time I walked into my last home and saw the Agreeable Gray walls, I fell in love with gray home designs.
So, when we moved into our current home a little over 4 years ago, there was no question what my color palette would be. Gray, gray, and, well, gray!
One important tip to remember if you are considering using a shade of gray to paint your home is there are several undertones when it comes to gray paint. Some shades have a blue or green undertone while other have a violet or taupe undertone.
Cooler grays have more blue undertones while warmer tones have a brown or beige undertone, which is why they may be described as "greige."
My top tips for choosing a gray paint color include:
1) choose multiple paint swatches
2) choose both cool and warm swatches
3) take the swatches home and look at them in the area you want to paint. This will allow you to see how the light will affect the color.
4) also look at the swatches at night and with artificial light
5) buy small paint samples and try them out on your walls or make paint sample boards
Choosing paint colors can be difficult! So be patient. Do your homework and study the colors inside (or outside) your home. In the end, choose the color that you love the most during the majority of the day as colors change throughout the day based on lighting, decor, etc.
And remember...
It's your design, your details, and your home decor! Create something you will love!
If you prefer a neutral exterior paint palette, these beautiful shades of beige, gray, and greige will create a stunning neutral aesthetic for the exterior of your home.
These colors pair well with white trim colors such as Sherwin Williams Alabaster or Pure White and Benjamin Moore Chantilly, Simply White, or White Dove.
There are endless options for accent colors that will create a beautiful exterior color design. Some of my favorite options include SW Sea Salt and Oyster Bay, and BM Woodlawn Blue. If you prefer a bolder accent color, SW Iron Ore, Tricorn Black, Urbane Bronze, Pewter Green, and Navel, as well as BM Hale Navy, Newburg Green, and Black Satin, are excellent choices to create a striking exterior design for your home.
Choosing the right color palette for your home may seem like a daunting task. I encourage you to purchase paint samples of peel-and-stick samples and try out various options to ensure you have chosen the perfect paint palette for your home's exterior. Create a home exterior that is warm and inviting that makes your guests feel welcome as they enter your home.
And remember...
It's your design, your details, and your home decor! Create something you will love!
I love all of the beautiful shades of blue that are emerging for 2024. Benjamin Moore's Blue Nova is such a vibrant, strong color that can be used in so many ways - kitchen cabinets, bathrooms, or even on the ceiling of large rooms.
Blue Nova can be paired with contrasting colors, such as the deep orange of Topaz or the soft yellow of Honeybee.
Pairing Blue Nova with the pale blue of Polar Sky will give you a more monochromatic paint palette.
For an understated look, combine Blue Nova with the classic look of White Dove or the dusty rose undertone of Pristine.
Other complementary shades that will pair well with Blue Nova are Mount Saint Anne, Quincy Tan, and Paper White.
Ultimately, the options are endless with Blue Nova! Whether you prefer understated, soft tones and textures or you love bold and contrasting hues, create a color palette for your home that showcases your personality and style.
It's your design, your details, and your home decor! Create something you will love!
Sherwin Williams describes their 2024 Color of the Year as "a breezy, blissful blue." This description is spot on! It reminds me of a beautiful, breezy day with pale blue skies that makes you want to take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the moment.
Upward is a soft, cool color that can be used as a ceiling, trim, or wall color to create a warm, inviting aesthetic.
To create a beautiful coastal vibe, pair Upward with Snowbound, Indigo, or Alabaster (SW7008). This combination will showcase an eye-catching coastal charm.
Upward also pairs well with other blues and greens such as Honeydew and Indigo. Whether you choose a monochromatic look or a bold contrast with blues and greens, Upward will add the perfect element of calm and tranquility to your home living space.
If you prefer a more neutral color palette, Drift of Mist and Fawn Brindle will reveal a neutral yet subtle color palette with Upward.
For a bold and vibrant contrast, pair Upward with Tricorn Black, Gale Force, or Antiquarian Brown. These earthy tones will accent the calming effect of Upward.
Whatever color combination you choose, remember it's your design, your details, and your home decor. Create something you will love.
Fall is my favorite time of year! After our hot and humid Mississippi summers, the cooler (and less humid!) air that fall brings is always welcome. And who doesn't love the changing colors of the fall season? Fall is by far the most colorful season with beautiful shades of dark green, bright orange, crisp red, sunny yellow, and warm brown. These fall-inspired paint colors will give your home a fresh, updated look while adding a warm, welcoming vibe to your home decor design.
Happy painting and Happy Fall Y'all!!
